Katavi National Park
Katavi National Park lies South of the Mahale Mountains on a high flood plain surrounding Lake Katavi. The water of the Park shelters Crocodiles, Hippos and large flocks of Pelicans. The diverse woodlands, acacia bushes, lakes and swamps have attracted over 400 Bird species. Leopards, Lions, Elands and other animals inhabit the short grass and thickets.
Lake Nyasa
Lake Nyasa is the most southerly of the Rift Valley lakes and biologically is also the most diverse. The lake contains 30 percent of the world's Cichlid species - colourful fishes that are easily observed in the clear water. Matema Beach on the noithern tip of Lake Nyasa is rated as the best beach on the Lake and has a beautiful setting against the mountains.
